1. Strawberry Avocado Smoothie

This smoothie is creamy and delicious and a powerhouse of nutrients. Heart healthy to the core, this drink is a perfect dietary choice and acts as an addition to the diet recommended for weight gain.

Ingredients-

  • 1/4th cup milk
  • 3/4th cup yogurt
  • 1 banana
  • ¼ avocado
  • 1 ½ cup strawberries
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla essence

Method-

Blend milk and yogurt together. Add banana and avocado into the milk and yogurt mixture. Blend well in the blender. Now add fresh strawberries. Blend well till smooth. Serve chilled.

Stomach filling and highly nutritious, this drink keeps hunger at bay and is a perfect guilt free choice taken after workouts.

2. Chocolate Peanut Butter Weight Gain Shakes

This smoothie is filled with nutrients like calcium, potassium, proteins and probiotics. Yummylicious and energetic, have this smoothie as an addition to your regular meal.

Ingredients-

  • 1/4th cup milk
  • 3/4th cup yogurt
  • 1 banana
  • 2 tbsp. Dark chocolate
  • 2 tbsp. peanut butter

Method-

Blend milk yogurt together in a blender. Add dark chocolate and banana and blend well. Now add peanut butter to this mix and blend till no chocolate pieces are seen. Filled with antioxidants and favorite among many due to the chocolate flavor, this drink is a must have among weight gainers.

3. Homemade Drink With Protein Powder

Adding protein powder into the drink helps to build healthy muscles and allows recovery faster from strenuous exercise. However, protein drinks are just an addition to the well-balanced diet, that doesn’t mean that protein drinks can be replaced by any meal taken during the day.

Ingredients-

  • Lemonade (without sugar)- 3/4th glass
  • Frozen fresh strawberries- 5 to 6 pieces
  • Vanilla essence- half tsp.
  • Protein powder- 1 tbsp.
  • Oats – 1/4th cup (boiled and kept aside)
  • Honey- 1 tsp.

Method-

Take lemonade and pour it into a blender. Add frozen strawberries into the juice. Add vanilla and blend the mixture well. Now add the protein powder, oats and honey into the blender and blend till it becomes fine.

High protein drinks can boost your energy for the day. This drink can be consumed with a healthy breakfast. However, avoid high protein shakes above 25 gms as it causes a strain on the kidney.

4. Fresh Fruit Juice With Soy

Fresh fruits and vegetable may be nutrient dense but not heavily concentrated in calories. However juicing fruits and vegetables concentrates calories and can be considered as one of the options for weight gain program. But juices are also concentrated sources of sugar and contain negligible protein. Hence juices should not be the sole option for gaining weight. However, a perfect detox and a good way of improving the nutrient intake in our body, juices can, of course, perk up the plan.

Ingredients-

  • 1 cup soy milk
  • ½ cup fresh kale juice
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup blueberries.

Method-

Blend together all the ingredients till you get a fine juice. For varieties of the juices, you can keep on bringing various options of fruits or milk or yogurt.

You need to juice fresh produce that is free of molds or soft spots. Blend the juice in such a way that you need to drink it within 48 hours. The leftover juice can be kept in a refrigerator in a sealed container and use it within 2 days.

5. Coconut and Cinnamon Weight Gain Shakes

It has been a healthier option to include coconut milk with other drinks or foods to improve weight gain efficiency. Adding coconut milk in moderate amount is sensible but if you have cholesterol issues, then it may not be appropriate.

Ingredients-

  • Milk – 1 cup
  • Milk cream (optional) – 1 tbsp.
  • Coconut milk- 2 tbsp.
  • Pineapple – 2 tbsp.
  • Cinnamon powder – ½ tsp.
  • Protein powder – 1 tsp.

Method-

Blend milk, cream and coconut milk in a blender. Mix well. Add pineapple, cinnamon powder and protein powder and mix well in the blender till it gets mixed well. You can add sweeteners like sugar or honey in moderation if you prefer it sweet.

6. Banana, Almond and Flaxseed Smoothie

This smoothie is heavily nutrient dense and very tasty. It is rich in unsaturated fats because of almonds added into the drink. Adding flaxseeds also add to the health quotient and cocoa powder adds to the flavor and antioxidant content of the health drink.

Ingredients-

  • Milk – 1 cup
  • Banana-1
  • Almonds – 1 tbsp.
  • Flaxseeds- 1 tsp.
  • Dark unsweetened cocoa powder- 1 tbsp.

Method-

Blend milk and banana together till its fine. Add almonds and flaxseeds into the mixture and mix well. Add cocoa powder and blend it again. You can serve this drink chilled.

Weight gain shakes are available which are quite trendy and easily prepared with the ingredients available at home. Hence weight gain procedure can be made more interesting by adding these healthy drinks in your daily diet regime. But do not allow these health drinks to be the sole source for providing nutrients in your diet. You also need to have calorie dense and nutrient dense foods apart from these drinks. Having a well – balanced diet along with the health drinks is what needs to be followed.
