1. The Salt Scrub
- 1 cup of finely ground sea salt
- 1/3 cup of almond oil
- 8 drops of organic grapefruit essential oil
Take the finely ground salt in a bowl. Add the essential oil to it and mix it up. Now slowly pour the almond oil into the mixture stirring it all the while. Keep adding the almond oil till you get coarse moist sand-like consistency. Scrub your face, body, and legs with the mixture. Later wash it off with some warm water.
2. The Vanilla Brown Sugar Scrub
- 1 cup of finely ground brown sugar
- ½ cup of almond oil
- 1 tablespoon of vitamin E oil
- 1 tablespoon of real organic vanilla extract
Take the finely ground brown sugar in a bowl. To this, you add the vanilla extract and vitamin E oil. Mix up all the ingredients well enough. Now slowly pour the almond oil into the mixture stirring it all the while. Keep adding the almond oil till you get coarse moist sand-like consistency. Wet your body. 3. The Rose Scrub
- 1 and a half cups of finely ground brown sugar
- 1 cup of coconut oil
- 1 tablespoon of jojoba oil
- 1 pink or red rose
- 1 clean jar
The preparation of the scrub needs to be done 2 to 3 days before you plan to use it. Take the clean jar and pour the coconut oil into it. Peel the petals of the rose and drop it into the oil. Later add the jojoba oil and brown sugar to it. Allow it to stand for a few days. When you want to use it take a large spoon and mash all the ingredients in the jar. Wet your body before applying the scrub. Take a spoonful of the scrub and apply it on your body, hands, and feet. Massage in the circular fashion. When completely done rinse your body with warm water.
4. Oatmeal and Chickpea Scrub
Chickpea powder is used in this recipe which is very effective as a body scrub.
- ¼ cup of Chickpea powder
- ¼ cup of oatmeal powdered fine
- 2 tablespoons of ground dried orange peel
- 8 drops of jasmine oil
- 2 tablespoons of sweet almond oil
Take the orange peel and oatmeal in a coffee grinder or food processor and powder it finely. Put the mixture in a bowl. To this, you add chickpea powder and jasmine oil. Mix it thoroughly well. Now add almond oil to the mixture and keep stirring. If you find the mixture is too dry you can add little water to it. Instead of water, you could also add some more of almond oil. Once the paste is ready to shower yourself and get your body wet. Take some scrub in your hand and apply it all over your body in circular movements. You could apply it on the arms, legs, torso, and back. Finally, rinse yourself with warm water.
5. Green Tea and Ginger Scrub
- 2 cups of refined or brown sugar
- 1 cup of brewed green tea which is still lukewarm
- 3 tablespoons of freshly grated ginger
Take a bowl and put the sugar in it. Add the freshly grated ginger into it and mix well. Now slowly add green tea and keep stirring. Continue stirring till you get a uniform paste. Get into the bathroom and shower yourself. Ensure that all your body parts are wet. Take a small amount of scrub in your hand and start massaging from your neck onwards and move towards the lower parts of your body. Reach all the dry areas of your body and scrub well. Later take a shower with lukewarm water and rinse yourself.
5. The Coffee Scrub
- 1/3 cup fresh coffee powder
- 1 cup of coconut oil
- 1/2 cup of white or brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
Put the coffee powder in a bowl. Coffee powder is supposed to effective in removing cellulite marks on the skin. Add the brown sugar to it followed by the olive oil. Stir it up to make a nice mixture. Pour the coconut oil gradually to the mixture. Keep stirring the mixture all the while till it becomes like moist coarse sand. The coconut oil nourishes and hydrates the skin making it soft. During the shower after wetting your body apply the scrub. Massage the paste on all the body parts. Finally, rinse with warm water. 6. The Lavender and Vanilla Scrub
- 2 cups of white or brown sugar
- 1 cup of grapeseed oil
- 12 teaspoons of lavender oil
- 2 teaspoons of powdered dried lavender
- 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
Take a bowl with the sugar. Add the powdered lavender to the sugar. To enhance the fragrance add the vanilla and lavender oil to the mixture and stir well. Now slowly add the grapeseed oil until the mixture becomes a paste. You can store this scrub in a container and use it when you shower. While bathing after you wet yourself thoroughly, the scrub can be used. Take a spoonful of the mixture in your hand and massage it on all the body parts including the face. Rinse with warm water. The oil in the scrub makes the bathroom floor very slippery. So you need to be careful while using this scrub.
7. The Lemon Zest Scrub
- 3 cups of white or brown sugar
- ¾cup of olive oil
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
- 2 limes zest
- Juice from one lime
Take a bowl with the sugar. Add the vanilla extract to it and mix well. Then add the olive oil and stir the mixture. With the help of a scrapper peel the zest from 2 limes and add to the mixture. Take the 3rd lime and squeeze the juice out of it. Add the juice to the mixture and mix it up. Store the scrub in a glass container. When you plan to use the scrub, wet yourself under the shower. Take a handful of the scrub and massage on all the body parts. Finally, rinse with warm water.
8. The Lemon Poppy Seeds Scrub
As we know citrus fruits like limes are acidic and full of vitamin C. They aid in the cleaning of skin and brighten it up.
- 1 cup of white or brown sugar
- 4 lemons
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon of poppy seeds
- ½ cup coconut oil
- ¼ cup cornmeal
First, remove the zest from the lemons. If you do not have a zester you could use a peeler. Peel the skin of the lemons and leave it to dry for around 2 hours. Next, take the sugar in a bowl. Add the cornmeal to it followed by the vanilla extract and poppy seeds. Next, add the lemon zest to it and mix it up. Slowly add coconut oil to the mixture until everything gets submerged in the oil. Stir the mixture well and store in a glass container. It can be kept for 3 months. When you want to use the scrub, take a shower and wet your whole body. Take some amount of the scrub in your palm and massage all along the body. You can start from the neck and move downwards. After scrubbing the complete body rinse it off with warm water.
9. The Almond Scrub
Almonds work as a good homemade body scrub exfoliator agent. The cocoa powder in the recipe rejuvenates the skin and brings the glow back. The oil base which is coconut oil as we all know is a good moisturizer, antibacterial, antifungal and makes the skin soft.
- 1/2 cup of white or brown sugar
- 1/2 cup of powdered almonds or almond meal
- 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder
- ½ cup coconut oil
- 1 tablespoon of grated fresh coconut flakes
Powder the almonds in a food processor or you could use almond meal directly. Take the powder in a bowl and add the sugar to it. Next, add the cocoa powder and the coconut flakes. Mix it all up. Add the coconut oil slowly stirring the mixture all awhile. Keep stirring until the mixture becomes a paste. You can store this in a container bottle for 4 months.

10. Blueberries and Honey Scrub
- 1/2 cup of fresh blueberries
- 1 to 2 tablespoons of white or brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons of locally available honey
Put all the above ingredients in a food processor and grind till fine. Transfer the paste in a bowl. When you plan to use the scrub take a shower and wet yourself completely. Apply the scrub all over your body including the face. Massage while applying and leave it for 10 minutes. Rinse with warm water.
